Spain and the Balearics

The constant sunshine, azure waters and rugged landscape has made The Balearic Islands Europe’s favorite cruising playground. From golden beaches, bays, rocky peaks and lively harbors, Mallorca, Ibiza and the Balearic Islands have everything on offer for the perfect yacht charter holiday. The landscapes of the islands are extreme, and unmistakably Spanish.

The Balearic Islands or Islas Baleares are situated in the Western Mediterranean several hundred kilometres off the eastern coast of Spain. This island group comprises Mallorca, Minorca, Ibiza, Cabrera and Formentera. There are three airports in the islands making access extremely easy. At Palma de Mallorca on Mallorca, Ibiza on Ibiza and Mahon on Minorca.

Mallorca is famous for its beaches, countryside golf courses, marinas, multifaceted and different landscapes, culinary delights and culture – and for its vivid yachting scene, that extends far beyond the yacht charter area and has attracted yacht owners from all over the world.

Yacht charter crews in search of solitude should sail to the slightly rougher sister island of Menorca, whereas Ibiza is known as the embodiment of party culture and shows its closeness to Africa with its white Ibizan architecture. The flat island of Formentera houses only one harbour among its dunes, but also some idyllic anchor bays and beaches that have earned her the nickname Caribbean of the Mediterranean Sea. Between Ibiza and Formentera, you’ll find the Archipelago of Espalmador, which is known also as the Pitius Islands.

Ibiza covering 572 sq. km, is the third largest of the islands. The capital is Ibiza city, renowned for its extravagant nightlife. This attracts large numbers of tourists; over one million now visit every year. Some of Spain's most famous discos are to be found here along with a plethora of bars, cafes and restaurants beautiful unspoilt coves, making these islands one of the most popular luxury yacht charter destinations in the Western Mediterranean.
